Instagram is introducing a new feature that expands its Notes functionality by allowing users to set short video statuses of up to 2 seconds. This new feature differs from Instagram Stories in several ways: the video notes are limited to 2 seconds, can only be recorded using the front camera of the Instagram app, and cannot be uploaded from a user’s phone gallery. Once shared, the video notes will be visible to close friends and mutual followers for 24 hours.
How to use the new video status feature:
- Open Instagram and navigate to your inbox.
- Tap your profile picture in the Notes section and press the camera icon.
- Hit the record button to capture your 2-second video with the front camera.
- Add text for context, then post your video.
In addition to video statuses, Instagram is also introducing more ways to respond to Notes. Users will soon be able to reply with audio messages, photos, videos, and stickers. Replies, including emoji or photo reactions, will be sent directly to the recipient’s inbox.
Facebook and Instagram’s new AI-powered features:
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced new generative AI features coming soon to Facebook and Instagram. These features, based on Emu, Meta’s foundational image-generation model, include Emu Edit and Emu Video.
The Emu Edit feature will enable users to edit images with high precision, allowing them to modify only specific areas based on text instructions. Tasks such as background changes, color adjustments, and geometry transformations are all supported.
Emu Video will enable users to create videos from text prompts, images, or a mix of both, offering more creative control on the platforms.
